Take a behind-the-scenes look at Epcot Flower & Garden topiaries

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. —Do these guys look familiar?

Disney horticulture artists and experts worked almost half a year to bring Huey, Dewey and Louie to life in greens and flowers, according to Disney Parks Blog. Here’s a look at how they did it:

Donald and his nephews, Mickey and friends — 70 character topiaries across Epcot — are part of the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival. Guests can enjoy offerings from more than a dozen outdoor kitchens.

This weekend is the Art in the Garden Weekend. “Plein Air” artists capture nature in their creations.

One-of-a-kind Disney works of art will also be on display within the World Showcase from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

D-Luxe Burger opening in May at Disney Springs


LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. —Great news for burger lovers!

Coming this May, D-Luxe Burger will open at Town Center at Disney Springs. The restaurant is known for its delicious gourmet burgers and twisted milkshakes, according to Disney Parks Blog.

Guests may grab a bite in the eclectically comfortable Florida ranch-inspired interior or in the covered outdoor seating area that overlooks the springs.

There’s something for everyone at D-Luxe Burger. Diners may enjoy unique toppings, freshly baked buns and a signature blend of beef. Gourmet burgers on the menu include:

– Classic Cheeseburger – Beef patty topped with cheddar, lettuce, tomato and pickle

– Barbeque Classic Burger – Beef patty topped with a fried onion ring, smoked Gouda, bacon, barbeque sauce and lettuce

– El Diablo Burger – Chorizo-and-signature-blend patty, fried banana peppers, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato and chipotle mayonnaise

– Southern Classic Burger – Beef patty, topped with fried-green tomato, pimento cheese, lettuce and bacon

– Cluck Burger – Ground chicken patty, garlic herb sauce, avocado, lettuce and tomato

– Veggie Burger – house-made patty topped with Tzatziki, green bean salad, lettuce and tomato

Disney Days of Past: St. Patrick’s Day

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. —Blast from the past!

In this flashback photo from 1973, Mickey Mouse took a trip to Ireland, according to Rose Monahan, a Walt Disney World Resort librarian. (The Ireland section of the “It’s a Small World” attraction, that is.)

Here’s wishing you the luck of the Irish this St. Patrick’s Day. May your day be filled with leprechauns, rainbows, a pot of gold, and of course, Mickey Mouse!

Joy and Sadness to join Baymax in newly expanded Epcot Character Spot

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. —Epcot Character Spot, located in the heart of Future World at Epcot, is being expanded to provide guests an opportunity to meet even more Disney friends!

Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and Goofy are on hand in their cartoon clubhouse of the future, happy to take a break from creating their latest innovation to make new friends or welcome back old pals, according to Disney Parks Blog. Across the way, guests can also step into a makeshift robotics workshop and spend time with Baymax, everyone’s favorite personal health care companion from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Big Hero 6.”

Beginning next month, Epcot Character Spot will provide direct access to Headquarters, where visitors can meet Joy and Sadness, two of the Emotions who help guide Riley through life in the Disney•Pixar film “Inside Out.” On the way to Headquarters, guests will journey through Riley’s long-term memory, catching a glimpse of her Islands of Personality before joining Joy and Sadness at the console.

Minnie Mouse and friends host springtime soiree

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. —Springtime is here in Central Florida and warm temperatures and lots of sunshine are the perfect backdrop for Disney fans of all ages to enjoy a garden party with Minnie Mouse and her closest friends!

Guests may attend Minnie’s party at the Walt Disney World Resort. On the menu, look for classic picnic foods with a twist, like refreshing coconut-lavender lemonade and springtime salads: watercress or basil-lime fruit salad. Entrées include barbecue meatballs, buffalo baked chicken, lobster and shrimp mac ‘n cheese, herb-roasted pork and more. For dessert, passion fruit cheesecake, key lime tarts and banana cream puffs are just a few of the delicious offerings, according to Disney Parks Blog.
