Newport News police are investigating after three people were shot Tuesday morning.

Officials say around 11:45 a.m. Tuesday morning, Newport News police and medics responded to a report of a shooting at 33rd Street and Marshall Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found three victims – two males and one female – all suffering what appears to be non life-threatening injuries.

All victims were taken to a local hospital.

Detectives are following up on information regarding possible suspects and other information.

The female victim appears to be an innocent victim, according to police.

Police say the school resource officer at Huntington Middle School heard the call as it was dispatched, and the school was immediately put on lockdown.

After about five to ten minutes, the lockdown was lifted.
